Captain Mike got an early start in his career

Philly J Charters is one of the longest running charter services in the Ludington area, beginning in the early 1980's. Captain Mike started working aboard the Philly J as a youngster, learning the tricks of the trade from long time Captain Ed Jenkins. In 1998 Mike became a fully licensed Captain and has been at the helm of the Philly J ever since.  The Philly J has been retired and Mike now Captains "The Hunter" a 2004 30' Twin engine Cherokee. Mike will be fishing the tournament circuit and will be available for charters in Michigan City, Grand Haven, Ludington and Manistee. Click here for dates in each port.

Mike a Ludington native has spent his entire life on the shores of Lake Michigan and returns every summer to share the outstanding fishery and picturesque setting of Michigan's west coast with friends new and old.

Captain Mike is an active member of the Ludington Charterboat Association serving as a director since 2000. Mike coordinates the association's annual "Sponsor's Appreciation Day" and volunteers with many of the association's other special projects devoted to maintaining and preserving the area's fishery.

 ike is such a good fishermen that even Spartan's or Buckeye's catch fish with him!

Captain Mike is often the "go to guy" when the fishing gets tough! He spends all his time on the water and if anyone knows where the fish are it's Mike.

The Philly J has been a long time field tester and on the Pro Staff for the Lure company.
